I've got a size 12 sim running with around 9200 bots and 800 veggies at dazzling 0,4 c/sec but the total population never seems to climb over 9999. Is this hard coded or just pure chance?

I think there's a hard coded limit, actually. More as a sanity check than for technical reasons. Of course, now that the program can almost manage 10K bots it might be something worth playing with.

Yup, the hard cap is 10000. It was 5000 when I took over the code. I'll raise it again in the next drop.
