Path Not Found RESOLVED (NO REPRO)
« on: December 10, 2007, 11:36:07 PM »
I deleted an old version of DB awhile ago after losing interest in it, and tried to reinstall it in a different location.  I'm getting Run-Time Error 76, path not found saying it can't find the settings files.

Help.

Try downloading 2.43v off the downloads page.  As long as the DLLs are registerred from the previous install, it should run from wherever.  Hasn't gotten a ton of testing outside the install location, but it should auto-create any files or directories it needs including the default settings file.

I already have latest version, and it created a folder called settings.  No settings change, other then the buttons in an on/off setting, but no new forms open.

I don't understand your last sentence.  What do you mean by "no new forms open?"

If I click File --> Open, no dialog comes up.  If I click File --> New, the form (what they call the thing with the minimize, maximize, and close button) doesn't appear.

Some of the DLLs that the old 2.11 install lays down are not registerred.  I'm working on a new installer that will register the needed runtimes withotu the need to run the old install, but for now you still need to run the old installer to register the DLLs.  Once you do that, the new buddy drops should run okay from anywhere.  The reason the dialogs arn't coming up is due to the missing runtimes.

Also, are you running Vista?  You must be running as a local admin.

I'm running XP.  Vista is not so good I heard.  I'm going to Linux when I obtain my own computer.

Where do I put the 2.43v file?

Best place is in the install directory you specified during the 2.11 install.  By default, this is c:\Program Files\Darwinbotsii
