For anyone interested in the behaviour of real world ants and ant colonies, I highly recommend
Ants at Work by Deborah Gordon
. This book is well written, entertaining and well suited to anyone who wishes to write code or evolve virtual ants.

Mmmm, ants, always fascinated me, and I was just (minutes ago) looking for something to bring an amazon order over 15 squid. Thanks!

If you try and take a cat apart to see how it works, the first thing you have in your hands is a non-working cat.
