League FAQ Thread?
« on: February 28, 2005, 05:35:00 PM »
Well, should it happen or not? People might not understand how they work or anything (even though PY made a good job of explaining it)

people just look for the numbers, and might skip right past it without reading.

What all information would we have with it?  They seem pretty well explained to me.  Am I missing something?

well just about how bots got to where they are basically, but you could have an open forum for questions that guests had about them.

Just an idea..... im still learning lol

New people are allowed to post questions in the newbie center.  I think that is where this would go.  Problem is we haven't really had anyone with a newbie question yet.  Have to train people, then newbies'll get the idea. :bash:

yea I suppose so, I dont think many people from the old forum have come over, I think over time we will get questions.

May I ask what version of DB is out next? 2.36 or what?

We have most of the active members except Jez.  We're missing all the hit and runs.  Wait a bit and we'll see them pop up again.

Google does not know about the new forum. That the main problem in my opinion.

Google ranks pages based on hits I think (and maybe some other criteria?)

As the new forum gets used more google'll find it.

Oh, next version will probably be 3.0.  There are enough major changes that it warrants it.

I'll say it again, for all interested send me a PM with an email and I'll send you the latest, bug-ridden, unfinished version I have right now.

Going from 2.1 to 3.0 will seem like going from Civ2 to Civ3.  Hard to go back and play the older version.

Alpha Centurai was better than both- MP

We might be able to speed up the process somewhat. Perhaps take a look at where people are/were linking to the old sites from and then sending the new link to those sites. This should hopefully get more people posting :D

My guess would be that the AI/Alife and Free "Game" sites would be best. I managed to find the old homepage's  Statistics Page but most of it is in Itallian.

Endy ;)

Did you know that I am the DarwinBots game host there?

Should probably go and change a few links really.

Can you get in touch with Carlo?  The DB "homepage" looks abandoned witht the most recent news being the creation of a forum a year and a half ago!

I was shown this by Jez....

But anyway, I think that when we are like at DB version 5 there will be things like a Vintage League and stuff, actually a Vintage league would be good, keep evaluating the bots on version 2.35 or something, see how they fair against the old ones!

Well IF you guys want a new website, I could make one, but I think I would have to email Carlos to find out if I was allowed to....
