Qustion of the future
« on: February 27, 2005, 03:37:32 PM »
 It is hard to be a plant or a wasteEater in the inv-G system because it takes a while for this things to evolve.

But what about a Plant Eater, Is it only difficult to evolve into a Plant Eater because [you]food will be hard to find[/you]?

I am sure a Plant Eater does not need any new code. -Like "2 .setphotons store" Robots out now will work the same as hunters in the program right? -No new code needed

P.S.
This is more like a suggestion then a qustion. But now the suggestions board is busy with active topics already, so I posted it here.

Existing bots will be set up with a enzyme set that will make them equally able to digest plants or animals.
The "autotroph" button will change the definition of a robot that has no specific enzyme set so that it metabolizes waste and sunlight.

This way, all existing robots will be completely unaffected by the change. it is just that existing robots are omnivores or veggies. Either type can specialize further either by mutation or programming.

Or even despecialize further, and try their hands at both.  Though plants and animals require different things (plants need large surface area, animals need lots of muscle) so it won't be very good at either.

Also, things like 2 .setphoton store won't be necessary because digestion is an autotomic (that's the word, isnt it?) process.

It's all done without DNA codes.  The current Alga_Minimalis only would need some enzymes defined to run right, and those would be added automatically when 'autotrpoh' is checked.
